Affiliate disclosure

Foodi-AI earns money from some of the links on this website. This page explains exactly how that works, what it does not change, and how to recognise a commercial link.

Last updated:

The short version

Some links from Foodi-AI to online shops may become affiliate links. None is active at the moment. Once a link is active, if you click it and then buy something, the shop may pay Foodi-AI a commission. The commission is paid by the shop out of its own margin. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone to the shop directly.

Affiliate income does not determine which shops we include, the order they appear in, or what we write about them. Several shops we recommend have no affiliate programme at all.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a shop with a tracking identifier attached. When you follow it, the shop can tell that the visit came from Foodi-AI. If you then make a purchase within a set period, the shop pays us a percentage of the order value or a fixed fee.

This is a standard arrangement across online publishing. It is legal, provided it is disclosed clearly, which is what this page, and the notice at the top of every page containing such links, is for.

Where affiliate links can appear on this site

There are no affiliate links in our research summaries, and we do not place affiliate links inside health explanations. Links to scientific sources are never commercial.

How we mark commercial links

  • A visible disclosure appears near the top of every page that contains affiliate links, before the first such link.
  • A short note on affiliate status appears again next to each group of shop links.
  • Every active affiliate link carries rel="sponsored nofollow" in the HTML, which is how search engines are told a link is commercial. Shop links without an active affiliate programme are ordinary links and are not marked as sponsored.
  • Partner links open in a new tab and are clearly labelled as leading to an external shop.

What commissions do not influence

We keep the commercial and editorial sides apart in specific, checkable ways:

  • Selection. Shops are assessed against six published criteria. Whether a programme exists, and what it pays, is not one of them.
  • Order. Listings are not ranked, and position cannot be bought.
  • Wording. No shop, network or brand reviews, approves or edits what we write about it before publication.
  • Paid placement. We do not accept payment to add a shop, remove a shop, or publish sponsored articles or paid guest posts.
  • Unpaid entries. Shops that earn us nothing stay on the list as long as they meet the criteria.

If a commission arrangement ever conflicted with an honest recommendation, we would drop the arrangement, not the recommendation.

Affiliate tracking uses cookies, which under the GDPR and the Dutch Telecommunications Act require your prior consent. Foodi-AI therefore places no affiliate tracking at all until you accept it in the cookie banner.

If you decline, the links on this site remain fully usable. They simply become ordinary links to the shop, and we earn nothing from them. Nothing on this website is hidden behind accepting cookies. You can change your choice at any time via cookie settings or on the cookie policy page.

Networks and programmes we work with

Affiliate relationships are managed through affiliate networks. As programmes are approved, they will be listed here by name so you can see exactly who we have a commercial relationship with.

Current status: applications in progress. At the time of writing, no affiliate tracking is active on this website and we earn no commission from any link on it. This page is updated when that changes.

Legal basis for this disclosure

We publish this disclosure to meet the requirements of EU Directive 2005/29/EC on unfair commercial practices, as implemented in Dutch law in Book 6 of the Burgerlijk Wetboek, which requires that the commercial intent behind a recommendation be made clear. It also reflects the disclosure requirements of the affiliate networks we work with, and Google's policy on qualifying outbound commercial links.
