About

Who is behind Foodi-AI

Foodi-AI is a small Dutch team building a nutrition assistant for people managing metabolic risk and diet-related health conditions. This page explains how we work, where our information comes from, and how we pay for it.

Why we are building this

Many diet-related conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension and raised cholesterol, develop slowly. Someone gets a blood test result that is “a little high” and is told to watch their diet. What that means at six o'clock on a Tuesday, standing in front of a fridge, is often left unexplained.

That gap is what Foodi-AI is built for. Not a diet, not a programme, not a streak to maintain. Practical guidance on the meal in front of you, with one or two realistic changes you could make.

Our first focus

We are building Foodi-AI first for people living with pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure). These are conditions where everyday food choices play an important role, so that is where our meal analysis, guidance, recipes and research summaries start. Support for other diet-related needs, such as cholesterol and food allergies, follows from there.

How we work

Research you can check

Our Insights research summaries are written from peer-reviewed studies, and each one links to the study behind it. Where evidence is mixed, we say it is mixed. We summarise findings; we do not turn them into promises about Foodi-AI.

No claims we cannot stand behind

We do not publish success percentages, savings figures or outcome statistics for Foodi-AI itself. The product is in development and has not been through clinical evaluation, so any such number would be marketing rather than evidence.

Money in the open

Affiliate links are marked, disclosed above the fold on the page they appear on, and explained in full on a dedicated page. Commercial relationships never decide editorial content.

Privacy by default

No advertising cookies and no analytics tracking. The only optional cookies are affiliate cookies, and they are placed only if you actively accept them.

Clear about our limits

Foodi-AI is an information tool, not a medical device. We say so on the homepage, in our disclaimers and in our AI-facing documentation, because being misquoted as medical advice would be a genuine harm.

Corrections welcome

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did. Errors are inevitable; leaving them up is a choice.

How our content is made

Research summaries in our Insights library start from the published paper, usually indexed on PubMed, and are summarised into plain language. We link to the original paper every time so you can review the source yourself. We summarise findings; we do not extrapolate them into promises.

Recipes are developed around composition rather than calorie targets: fibre, protein, unsaturated fat and slower carbohydrates, using ingredients available in Dutch supermarkets. Nutrition figures are estimates per portion, not laboratory measurements, and will vary with the exact ingredients and portion sizes used.

The shopping guide is based on six published criteria and is reviewed twice a year. Shops do not pay to appear and cannot pay to change what is written about them.

Meet the team

We are building Foodi-AI to help close the gap between being told to watch your diet and knowing what to put on your plate tonight.

Where the product stands today

The website, with its recipes, research summaries and shopping guide, is live and free. The meal-analysis application is in development and being tested by a closed early-access group. We have not set pricing for the finished product, and we will publish it here before anyone is asked to pay for anything.

About us: common questions

Is Foodi-AI an independent company?

Yes. Foodi-AI is an independent Dutch company. It is not owned by, funded by or operated on behalf of any supermarket, food producer, supplement brand or health insurer, and no such party has editorial influence over what we publish.

Are the people behind Foodi-AI medical professionals?

Foodi-AI is built by a technology team, not by clinicians, and we do not present ourselves as medical professionals. Our content is based on published research rather than on clinical practice, which is why our research summaries link to the original studies and why we are explicit that Foodi-AI does not give medical advice.

How does Foodi-AI make money?

Our main source of income will be subscriptions to the Foodi-AI application, once it launches; early access is free during testing. In the future, a small additional part may come from affiliate commissions on some shop links in our shopping guide, paid by the shop rather than by you. No affiliate tracking is active at the moment. We do not sell advertising, and we do not sell or share personal data.

Can I write for Foodi-AI or partner with you?

We are open to working with dietitians, researchers and retailers. We do not accept paid guest posts, sponsored articles or paid links, because doing so would compromise the independence this site is built on. For anything else, contact us directly.
